I got the following story from our good friend Tommy Smith. Tommy recently shared his own personal sighting from back in 1975 with us, but today he is telling us about an event that happened in the late 1980's.

Judging by the description given in the story, I'm not sure this was a typical bigfoot. Give the story a read and see what you think.

"Tom,

 

 I figured I would drop you a few lines regarding a coworker's rather bizarre encounter with an unknown creature. This story has stuck with me over the years and continues to intrigue me.

 

I haven't seen this guy in several years and of course will simply refer to him as "Dave". We worked together for approximately three years. We had practically nothing in common as Dave was several years younger than me. However we got along just fine and began carpooling to work. At no time did Dave ever express an interest in the paranormal or anything of this nature.
 

However, one evening he dropped me off at home and stepped inside for just a short time before heading home toward Hazard (Perry County). He noticed a book on my coffee table with Bigfoot on the cover. He casually picked it up, flipped through it rather quickly, and asked if he had ever shared his story with me about a hair raising encounter he had while in high school. I replied that he hadn't but would enjoy hearing about it if he had the time. Anyway here goes ...
 

Dave stated that this occurred when he was a sophomore in high school (I'm guessing around 1987 or 88). He went home with a friend after school to attend a basketball game. His friend's Mom drove them both to the game in a small minivan. The trip back home was somewhat late and well after dark. He stated they were driving on what is referred to as "old highway 80". The road is rather winding in places, the hillsides dangerously close to the road, with trees looming out overhead, ditches filled with slate rock from the loose outcroppings, etc.. I have driven this road myself two times (once while lost) and fully agree with his description.
 

The lady was driving rather slow due to the conditions. Suddenly something landed with a hard thud on top of the minivan. She slowed even more and something appeared to take a couple of steps as if walking above them. Panicky, she stepped on the accelerator and both boys screamed for her to stop as the intruder had apparently tumbled off. Once fully stopped, both boys looked out the back, visible in the break lights was a terrifying sight.
 

As Dave relayed the following details to me, I couldn't help but notice he had some difficulty in speaking and both arms were covered in goose pimples.
 

Staring directly at them was a creature totally covered in brown fur. It's face appeared rather "monkey like", with a few differences: The eyes were HUGE, he estimated around three inches in diameter, and worst of all, an open mouth full of razor sharp, crooked teeth, which he described as being more like fangs. The eyes glowed a bright orange, but stated this could have been the result of the break lights. He then asked if I was familiar with the classic Spiderman T-shirt pose (semi-kneeling with one hand touching the pavement). This is how the creature was positioned, as if attempting to get back on it's feet. Now the weird parts. He further stated that the creature was rather spindly and thin, with very long arms, but stood no more than five and a half feet tall? Neither witness was able to see if it possessed a tail or not. He also said that it's fur appeared to be matted and tangled, with numerous strips of moss, twigs, and leaves. He shuddered again and stated he would never forget that face, especially those large round eyes and mouthful of razor sharp teeth.
 

Well, there you go. I have to say that I found Dave to be a very reliable witness. He never mentioned the story again or any other tale related to the paranormal. The physical description has left me scratching my head? And in case you are wondering, he advised that he did not remember seeing the creature's feet.

Reading the description, it makes me wonder if this was either a different humanoid type being or maybe even a sickly bigfoot. I'm sure an event like this was stay in your mind forever. It was no doubt terrifying and shocking at the same time.
