Missouri has had many bigfoot sightings throughout history, starting with "wildman" stories up through the year 2018. One of the reported sightings comes from Clinton County. And that is what we shall explore today.

On January 29, 2018, a semi-truck driver saw a "tall brown mass" on two legs cross a roadside grassy area in only three giant steps and disappear into the woods. The afternoon sighting lasted only a few seconds. He reported his experience to the state highway patrol.  He described the creature moving with almost a "marching" movement but with a bilateral bend at its knees. The height was estimated at around 10 ft. The witness also reported this to BFRO (report #58980).

A man's life was forever changed on July 11, 2014, when he saw a "sizable creature" cross the road in front of him. It was late at night, he was driving down the highway when around 50 yards away, he thought he saw a deer in the road. Hitting the brakes, he managed to slow down, expecting to see more deer in or by the road. In only seconds the 'shadow' crossed the road and was at the edge of the ditch. As the car drew closer and the headlights illuminated the area, the witness realized it was no deer. The creature was too large and was standing upright.

It took two steps from the edge of the ditch and reached the 30-inch high fence. It placed its hand on the top wire while at the same time jumping up and clearing the fence with both feet and then it disappeared into the cornfield.

The witness estimated the creature at 7 to 7 1/2 feet tall. He saw only a side profile but said it was shaggy and a light red/brown color. The hair seemed to vary in length, similar to hair on a Golden Retriever. He described the animal as "stout" with the weight estimated around 350 to 400 lbs or more.  The side profile gave him no chance to view any facial detail, but he did add he saw no eye glow. The feet and the legs were either out of the area lit by the headlights, or hidden by the vegetation on the side of the road.

The witness found that he was unable to let go of having seen this creature and began returning to the area, searching for more information. The terrain was a mixture of waterways, corn and soy fields, pastures, trees, and gullies.

In November of 2014, he had his second sighting. He took his two dogs and was hiking along the river. He did a couple of knocks on trees as he walked, not expecting any response. After walking another 50 yards from his last knock, he looked ahead to his dogs, who were now about 40 to 50 feet ahead of him. They stopped and sniffed the air; then the hairs on the Lab's back went straight up and he began barking and growling. The Golden Retriever was "barking hysterically". About 30 seconds later, the witness heard a "huge crashing sound" moving through the trees on their side of the river. The dogs went "crazy" and ran towards the sound.

About 75 to 100 yards up the river, he saw a large dark figure come flying out of the trees and jump from the bank. It landed in the water and ran across the river. When it reached the opposite bank, it jumped out of the water onto the bank and climbed it. It disappeared from sight into the trees on the other side.

Throughout the entire sighting, the witness saw only the creature's back but he believed that this was not the same creature he saw the first time. This one appeared to him to be smaller in height and not quite as big in body size. When he looked, he could find no tracks, only slide and scrape marks on the bank of the river.
