Flying Spiders!

This post by Thomas Marcum, Thomas is the founder/leader of the cryptozoology and paranormal research organization known as The Crypto Crew. Over 20 years experience with research and investigation of unexplained activity, working with video and websites. A trained wild land firefighter and a published photographer, and poet.

Real or Fake - Flying Spider Invasion!

Back around 2012 there was reports going around about the discovery by scientist of a new and very dangerous type of spider. It was dubbed Flying Spider or Winged Spider but scientifically called Volat-Araneus. According to the "experts" this dangerous spider would soon be invading the UK and the rest of the world. The thought of this struck fear in the hearts of arachnophobes everywhere and the Newspaper clipping sure looked convincing, but lets dig deeper.

Now the mysterious Flying Spider has re-appeared in 2014 and it comes from a tech repair service called Digital Plumbing. The main question:  "is it Real or Fake?"

Do you have a fear of spiders? I really don't like them myself, they are just creepy to me. Now, I will admit the thoughts of flying spiders is something I really don't like to think about.

But everyone can rest easy when it comes to this report of flying spiders, the story is a fake.
The image of the winged spider has been digitally modified and inserted into a newspaper picture.

Oh how can I be sure you ask? well here is the original photo of the winged spider:

Notice this is the exact same picture used in the fake newspaper article, well minus the wings.
The original photo was first posted on the Carolina Nature Webpage, which is a site with a lot of spider photos, avoid it if you are like me and find spiders creepy. The credit for the photo was to a Will Cook, he must be a brave man to get this close to a creepy spider of any kind. yuck.

Now, in the 2014 version of the "flying spider" post from Digital Plumbing they admit it is a fake and are using it to educate internet users that you can get viruses and malware from clicking on these fake news reports.

Flying Spider - Real or Fake - FAKE

Thanks

is Bigfoot Paranormal?
Bigfoot & Paranormal

Should We Still Call Bigfoot Paranormal?
And Just What Is Paranormal?
By Dorraine Fisher

Those of us who work with paranormal subjects every day take for granted that we know exactly what that means. But what exactly is paranormal? For many people, if you ask them directly, they’ll tell you it has to do with ghosts and other anomalous entities. But we often use it to generalize the subjects of ghosts, cryptozoology, and UFO’s studies. So are we misusing the term? And should sasquatches as we’ve come to understand them still be considered a paranormal subject?

The word "paranormal" means "outside or beyond normal," which seems simple enough until you realize how subjective the word normal really is. If you can’t define what normal is, how do you define what is paranormal?

So, once again, we resort to the old dictionary. And according to our old, dependable Merriam-Webster, paranormal means anything "very strange and not able to be explained by what scientists know about nature and the world." And by this definition, I could surmise something normal can be explained by science, whereas something paranormal cannot. So if science hasn’t discovered it and can’t explain a subject scientifically, it’s paranormal. Simple, right? Well…not so fast.

If this is true, then how does this affect subjects in science like black holes and dark matter that scientists are still only theorizing about but haven’t yet been able to fully explain? And here’s the answer Wikipedia provided: Paranormal phenomena are distinct from certain hypothetical entities, such as dark matter and dark energy, only insofar as paranormal phenomena are inconsistent with the world as already understood through empirical observation coupled with scientific methodology."

I take this to mean that if scientists have decided they understand it a certain way, whether correct or not, it’s NOT considered paranormal by the standard definition.

So, is bigfoot really paranormal? I’m thinking the answer is yes…and no.

Sasquatches aren’t quite proven to exist beyond a shadow of a doubt but are still subject to study by a few scientists. They have been said to have been empirically observed with scientific methodology on many occasions. But they have still not been found, dissected, and classified. So they aren’t understood on the level that is consistent to what we already understand about similar forms of wildlife.

So I will say sasquatches, at this moment in time, may still be dangling on the more paranormal side of the spectrum, though that’s not entirely fair. It’s not because they are ghosts, or mythical or magical. Ghosts don’t leave footprints with friction ridges, or blood, or hair, or other DNA behind for us to find like sasquatches have fairly often. But because the scientific community hasn’t given the subject of bigfoot its full attention. It hasn’t done the extensive research and made any final hypothetical assessments that echo across the board for the skeptics and believers both to embrace. And even when scientists do talk about it, the subject still gets lumped in with crop circles and UFO’s.

With all due respect to all the scientists who already bravely tackle this subject every day, we commend you. It’s not easy hanging out here. But all the subject needs now to move beyond paranormal is a little more serious acknowledgement. And do I hear a resounding "Ho hum!" of frustration among believers?

We’re so close to making them normal. So very close. With all the bigfoot buzz permeating the culture right now, so many witness accounts, so much physical evidence found, you’d think Bigfoot would be considered "normal" by now, even though they’re normal to us. But, (sigh) not quite.

So, as many of us think the subject can and should be taken more seriously and brought out into the daylight, all I can say is, "We need just a few more scientists in here, please."

Choctaw Bass
Choctaw Bass
No, it's not bigfoot but any time a new species of any type is confirmed it gives all of us bigfoot believers hope.

Scientists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife have confirmed a new species of black bass in the southeastern United States.

The Choctaw Bass, as it is being called, is very difficult to distinguish from the spotted bass. This is why the new species has remained undiscovered until recently.

Scientist searched for the same DNA profile among bass in nearby rivers to help confirm the new species.

Cool indeed.

Thanks

Zombie Apocalypse starting soon in France?

A group from the Pasteur Institute was able to reactivate muscle stem cells from deceased persons after 17 days, which functioned normally after transplant...

by Fabrice Chretien

French scientists were able to revive stem cells of muscle and bone marrow from persons who were already dead for 17 days, reports the journal Nature Communications in a paper released on Wednesday (13th) in France.

A team of researchers from the Pasteur Institute demonstrated that it is possible to reactivate the muscle stem cells from human cadavers and transplant them to make new ones born in perfect condition.

The scientists found that these cells did not die with the person. That's because they reduced their activity to a minimum and, after discarding the mitochondria (small bodies that help with breathing), were in a state of hibernation.

Thus, cells could survive even in an environment so hostile, without oxygen and in the middle of an acid bath, as well as in the case of a muscle injury, "sleeping and waiting out the storm," as Professor Fabrice Chrétien affirmed to the newspaper Libération.

"This reserve of stem cells could serve to make bone marrow transplants used to treat leukemia and blood diseases, among other conditions. They could also address the lack of donors," said Chretien, who led the study alongside researcher, Shahragim Tajbakhsh.

Despite the advances that have also been successfully tested in rats, the experiment showed an increase of one type of substance called ROS, which, in turn, has an incompatibility with the cells and genome, Professor Jean-Marc Lemaitre pointed out to the paper, Le Figaro. Due to this fact, the study still needs to determine whether these new cells, even in perfect condition, can hide still undetected malformations.

Wonder what this little guy is thinking?

Do Animals Like Dogs and Bigfoot Think?

By Dorraine Fisher

Do animals think? I’ve been laughing at this question for years.

There was a recent scientific study of dogs' brains. Scientists realized they could teach dogs to sit
still for a brain scan and respond to commands and certain words during the test. And they observed
the dogs’ brain reactions during their responses to them. And, based on their reactions, they finally
concluded that animals like dogs must have cognitive abilities. Scientists had been pondering this
question for years and I don’t really know why. Because if you want to know if animals think, all you have to do is live with them or watch them in nature.

The recent discovery of a giant squid with huge basketball size eyes has been promoted as an evolutionary survival response for detecting enemy sperm whales that would eat it.
But, how did the squid avoid the whales while its big eyes were still evolving over, supposedly, millions of years? Partially evolved eyes over millions of years do no good. Natural selection wouldn't have preserved them. The truth is the squid's eyes were designed from the beginning!

Natural selection occurs in nature but it doesn't produce biological traits. It only "selects" them. Natural selection can only "select" from biological traits and variations that are possible and which have survival value. If a variation occurs that helps a species survive, that survival is called being "selected." That's all it is. It's simply another term for survival of the fittest. There's no conscious selection by nature. It's a passive process. Natural selection is a figure of speech. The term itself is a tautology. Natural selection only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before.
Genes, not natural selection, produce biological traits. The real issue is not natural selection but what traits are genetically possible.

There are limits to evolution and natural selection in nature. Only evolution within biological "kinds" is possible (such as varieties of dogs, cats, horses, cows, etc.). Evolution is not possible across biological "kinds." The genes already exist in all species for micro-evolution (evolution within "kinds") but not for macro-evolution (evolution across "kinds").
Genetic information cannot happen by chance. Therefore, genetic and biological similarities between species are better explained due to a common Designer Who designed similar functions for similar purposes in all the various forms of life.

What about "Junk DNA"? The latest science shows that "Junk DNA" isn't junk after all! It's we who were ignorant of how useful these segments of DNA really are. Recent scientific research published in scientific journals such as Nature has revealed that these "non-coding" segments of DNA are vital in regulating gene expression (how, when, and where genes are expressed in the body). Just because these segments don't code for proteins or traits doesn't mean they're not useful or that they don't code for something else.

How did species survive if their vital tissues, organs, reproductive systems, etc. were still evolving? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic and biological similarities between species.

The woolly mammoth may be on the comeback trail, thanks to a deal signed between prominent Russian and South Korean scientists to collaborate on efforts to clone the extinct prehistoric beast. Vasily Vasiliev, of the North-Eastern Federal University of the Sakha Republic, forged the pact with controversial cloning expert Hwang Woo-Suk—who you might remember as the guy who faked the cloning of a human egg, the AFP reports.
Hwang does have some serious credentials, however; he legitimately produced the world's first cloned dog, and his efforts on human stem cells accidentally yielded a huge breakthrough in parthenogenesis. Hwang's Sooam Biotech Research Foundation will transfer technology to Vasiliev's university, which is already working with Japanese researchers on cloning the mammoth. "This will be a really tough job," one of Hwang's colleague says, "but we believe it is possible because our institute is good at cloning animals."

Should Bigfoot Have Human Rights?
By TCC Team Member Dorraine Fisher
Bigfoot researchers around the country have been tracking and studying the hairy guys for quite some time now, and they’re coming up with some pretty interesting theories about their behavior. And many details suggest an almost human type of intelligent unmatched my any other primate besides us.  And as new details about his existence come to light in the future, most of us agree he’ll need our consideration and our protection. But as all the new details unfold, we’ll eventually have to ask ourselves, “How much?”
Lori Marino studies brain and behavioral evolution in marine mammals at Emory University in Atlanta. And she and other researchers involved believe that whales and dolphins, due to their culture and intelligence, should be granted basic human rights. Marino said, “Because of their cultural sophistication, these are enormously vulnerable individuals.” It seems that marine mammals do things like mourn their dead, have a keen sense of fun, display a type of language, and even “talk” in their sleep.
But what about our big, hairy friends? Those who’ve been lucky enough to have some of kind of encounter with them report all kinds of similar traits. Sound recordings of certain types of howls sound much like they’re in a state of some kind of mourning or distress. Their ability to elude us for centuries while often living right under our noses suggests above-average intelligence, and some very human-like behavior traits like building structures and land marks suggests a type of “culture.”  Some who’ve been lucky enough to have encountered more than one of them in the forest, report their using a type of language to communicate to each other. And it has been suggested by others, though not proven, that they may possibly bury their dead.  And they watch us and study us and they probably know more about us than we do about them.
But this all begs a question in our minds. How will many animals be regarded by humans in the future as new knowledge about them is revealed? It seems that the lines between human and animal are slowly being blurred.
Even though a bigfoot reaches upwards of 8 feet tall and up to possibly 600 pounds, certainly doesn’t mean they aren’t vulnerable to humans. Once science proves their existence once and for all, some types of protections will have to be put into place for them.  And if Marino and other scientists can make their point clear to the world about whales and dolphins, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Bigfoot.

An elusive supergiant amphipod, recently plucked from the deep sea.
Scientists on an expedition to sample a deep-sea trench got a surprise when their traps brought back seven giant crustaceans glimpsed only a handful of times in human history.
The "supergiant" amphipods are more than 20 times larger than their typical crustacean relatives, which are generally less than a half-inch (1 centimeter) long, and thrive in lakes and oceans around the world. They are sometimes called the "insects of the sea."

"We pulled up the trap, and lying among the fish were these absolutely massive amphipods, and there was no inkling whatsoever that these things should be there," said Alan Jamieson, a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, and leader of the expedition that turned up the fantastical creatures in November 2011.
The largest of the seven specimens was about 11 inches (28 cm) long.
"They actually don't feel real," Jamieson told OurAmazingPlanet. "They feel like plastic toys. They have a waxy texture to them."
