Chemtrails: Real Concern or Conspiracy Theory?
By Dorraine Fisher

Chemtrails are not something we talk about a lot. I’ve been curious about the wide mist trails in the sky for several years now, but it seemed there were just as many witnesses that could explain them away as normal as there were those who insisted there was something sinister about them.

But what made me think twice about them was the fact that, when the pandemic began this year and air traffic was supposed to have stopped, I kept hearing planes in the sky during the night (that weren’t supposed to be there) only to wake up to new vapor trails spreading across the sky. Was there a connection? I had no way of knowing. In the dark of night, I couldn’t determine whether or not these planes were spreading anything across the sky. But as a conspiracy theorist myself, I had to think to myself that it was possible they were.
There are two prominent schools of thought on why the government might be doing this. The first is that they may be spraying sunblocking particles to block out the harsh rays of the sun in order to combat global warming. And the other is more sinister. Conspiracy theorists claim that the government may be spraying chemicals into the air to decrease the population, to make people sick, and to slowly kill many of us off.

On the first theory, though there are disagreements on the degree in which we should be worried about it, climate change is a real concern, but many experts claim that if this is the case, those trails they’re spraying wouldn’t block out very much sunlight. And the big question about this is what are they spraying up there to try and accomplish this? The government rarely tells us what they’re doing. Because if they did, we’d likely be disturbed or downright angry or fearful. Which leads us to the next theory.

The idea that the government (or someone else with some kind of authority) may be spraying chemicals or even some kinds of bacteria to make us sick and to eventually kill many of us seems a little far-fetched, but only to some. The prevailing question of the argument is why would the government spray chemicals into the atmosphere that would also kill THEM? And if you think about the question a little more deeply, you can come up with some creative answers. What if “they” who are ordering the spraying are spraying something they have access to protection from and we don’t? What if “they” have some kind of protection from these compounds?  Or what if “they” are biologically different from us and can’t be poisoned by this substance and we can? Of course, those ideas sound crazy to some. That’s why they call them conspiracy theories and it’s why they try to make conspiracy theorists out to be crazy. But what’s the best way to make people reject an idea that’s actually true? Tell them that the people who believe such things are crazy. Gaslight them. People naturally don’t want to be thought of as being crazy, so they’ll reject the idea that authorities are calling crazy and they’ll adopt the prevailing narrative. Conspiracy theorists may seem crazy at times, but at least they’re willing to explore the possibilities. They think critically, and quite often they’ve been proven right or at least partly right.

So, though I’m never sure what to think about the subject of chemtrails, I would always say to never adopt the common narrative just because you don’t want to be called crazy. And always think critically about the ideas that are being circulated. Explore the possibilities no matter how unusual they may seem. Often the truth is much stranger than fiction. And we’re almost never told the complete truth by authorities and government.  And the real truth may be crazier than we can imagine.

But in the meantime, check out this video where two experts state their cases for the idea of chemtrails and make up your own mind.
