Entity Moves Ball - Caught on Camera!

TCC's Tony Felosi, along with guest investigators Dana Green and Heather Ealy, return to the old Harlan County Courthouse to attempt contact with an entity we think is a young girl.

In the past, it seems the spirit of the young girl is more willing to interact with female investigators. During this trip, the team also bring along some toys to use as trigger objects in hopes that the young girl will be more willing to interact.

It seems to have worked as there is interaction with the ball and it was captured on camera.

Here is the video.

Paranormal Investigation - Old Harlan Court House

Recently, Tony Felosi, conducted a short investigation at the old Harlan County Courthouse. The old courthouse has been the home of several murders and it has been a hotbed for paranormal activity.

During this investigation, Tony is trying out two different ghost boxes. The entities seem to prefer one over the other, as numerous EVPs are captured. Also accompanying Tony on the investigation is Jennifer Williams. Jennifer is a seasoned investigator and understands how to frame questions and document evidence.

During the investigation an entity calling himself Joe provides some EVPs. But there are several others including what we think is a little girl.

Check out the video.

Imprisoned Spirits: In Search of the Unknown

I just wanted to make a quick post letting everyone know my latest film was released today. It is titled
Imprisoned Spirits: In Search of the Unknown. It is a very historical look at some violent times in Harlan County Kentucky. A film that covers many dark events that are capped off with a paranormal investigation of the old haunted jail.

Below is the full synopsis and official trailer:

3 Awesome EVPs

Electronic Voice Phenomena or just EVP for short, are sounds recorded on electronic devices that are interpreted as spirit voices. Many psychologists regard EVPs as a form of auditory pareidolia, meaning that the investigator is interpreting random sounds as voices and there really isn't any voice there. But over the years equipment for capturing these voices has gotten better. There are numerous ways to record EVPs. Everything from very low-cost devices to ones that cost a thousand dollars or more.

I think EVPs are great evidence of the spirit world. What makes it amazing is that many times you will get a direct response to a specific question or set of questions. This goes way beyond auditory pareidolia, in my opinion.

With that said here is three very interesting EVPs.

Question Gets Answered - Clear EVP

As we continue to roll out some of these incredible EVPs from our investigation team, I think it is important to let everyone know that none of these are faked. These sounds were often times captured on multiple recording devices. No voice sounds have been added in at all. After an investigation, it takes many hours to sift through all the different recordings.
Once a potential EVP is discovered, the first thing we normally do is simply boost the audio. After that, if we feel it is an actual voice, we do a variety of things to clear up the sound. Reducing noise levels can sometimes be very effective.

In the video below, Tony, the lead investigator, ask a simple question and gets a pretty clear reply.

I'm currently writing another book that deals with my time living in a house with paranormal activity. In doing some research about ghost activity, I ran across an interesting report. I was already aware of such reports of phantom telephone rings that many think come from a recently passed loved one.

It is not a far stretch to think that a spirit could make a telephone ring. After all, there is plenty of cases where spirits have caused K2 meters to light up, or unknown voices are captured on a recorder,  or some other device seems to be manipulated by an unseen entity.

There are even some cases of people hearing their passed love one speak on the line after a phantom phone call.

Haunted Jail Investigation

Recently, I and Tony Felosi of Harlan County Paranormal got another chance to investigate the old jail in Harlan County, Kentucky. The old jail is home to numerous murders and suicides, and lord only knows what else. The jail has been a hot spot for a paranormal activity for a while now, but as of late, it seems the activity has been on the increase.

This investigation yielded a host of evidence, as the activity was really high. I just want to make it clear that the building was on total lockdown. No one was in the building other than Tony and me. There were many things that we heard and had to happen. Much of the activity was captured on either video or an audio recorder. There was some evidence, like some footsteps, that we both heard, that has been left out of the video below.

With that said, there were several EVPs and other disembodied voices recorded, along with other unknown source sounds. It was pretty creepy and the EVP at the end of the video seals it.
Here is a short video of the investigation.

This use to be a page on our site and I removed it. But I thought it would be a good idea to preserve the actual content, and add some, from the page. I know some of this information, especially the tools, is probably out dated but there is still some good information. It is important for ghost hunters to be prepare when going out to investigate and this post will provide some useful information. There may even be some seasoned investigators who will find some of these tips useful. There are two lists, one for ghost hunting tools and one is ghost hunting tips.

 Lets get to the list.

Welcome to episode 22 of My Crypto World. It is probably my favorite time of the year. The temperature is cooler, the leaves are falling off the trees and Halloween is just around the corner.

I think it might be time for some ghost stories.

Some of these have been handed down by various family members and others are from my personal experiences.

I hope you enjoy the episode.

S.T.U.R.S - Ghost Hunting Table Discussion

This is a sit-down interview and table discussion about the previous night's investigation. The investigation took place in the Rolling Hills Asylum. The table discussion is hosted by TCC's Jason Morse, who also took part in the ghost hunt. There are various topics discussed and some good information about this investigation and past investigations.

Rolling Hills Asylum is a 53,000+ sq. ft. brick building that sits on a knoll in the hamlet of E. Bethany, N.Y.. It has long been a popular place for ghost hunters and has had a long history of being haunted. it did not disappoint the STURS team.

Here is the table discussion of the events.

Mock up photo.

The story I'm about to tell you is an interesting one. Some of the people are pretty scared about it all. I will not name the actual place/building or the woman I talked with. I will just say this, this is a place I have been to many times and a place where I know several of the employees. The building itself is very old. I would guess the building, like many in this area, is around 100 years old or more. Of course, this build has been remodeled over the years but it basically looks the same as it did many years ago.

This place/building is open to the public and like many businesses, there is a customer area in the front and an employee area in the back. The employee area is were a lot of work is done by a large number of staff, for most of the day. In the evening times and sometimes the early morning times, staff consist of only a few people, and sometimes just one or two.

Now, let me go back to the first. There is this woman I know very well and have known for many years. She became an employee of this company. As she got to know the other workers, they started to tell about a former employee who had killed himself and joked that he haunted the building. Some say he killed himself in the building, others said it was not in the building. But he was a long time employee of the company and I guess, he had an attachment to the place. The workers talked about odd things happening over the years and some just laugh about it all.

Well, over the years this woman I know has had odd things happen while she was working in the building. Stuff like doors slamming or the feeling of something in the room. The other employees tell of odd things as well. And one tells of  being touched when no one else was around. One person even told about seeing a dark shadow move across the room. Many times these events happened late in the evening or early in the morning, when staffing was light. On some occasions, as with the slamming door, it happens during the day, when more staff was around. This door that slammed, is a really old and very heavy door. There is also some reports of a foul smell from time to time, but as stated the building is old.

This woman that I know, also relayed to me some more of her personal experiences. Often times, she would be basically alone (again early morning or late evening) and she would listen to Pandora on her cell phone. Sometimes, there would be an odd interference come through her phone as she listened to Pandora. The funny thing about this is that sometimes during the day the staff would have a radio playing most of the day and it never got this "interference". The odd interference and weird sounds, made her a little uneasy but sometimes she would still listen to Pandora. Then, one day as she was listening to Pandora the interference started to come through again and then a voice said "Are you there?"

As you can imagine, this was enough for her to basically stop listening to Pandora for a while. She rarely even listens to it all now.

But that is not the end of this story. Very recently, as this woman was working a very early shift, again basically alone, when something happened. She told me she was not even thinking about all the weird stuff or the story about the guy haunting the building. She was just working and closing everything up. As she was making her final sweep, making sure everything was locked up, she catches a quick glimpse of a shadowy figure standing at the bottom of a set of stairs. She went on out the main doors and locked up. She told me, "Anything else that needed done can wait until the next morning."

The area where she seen this figure has no windows and it was already daylight outside.

I have personally been in the back area of this building a few times and I can vouch that the building is pretty creepy. It seem that any building that is around 100 years old, would or could have ghost in it to me. Years of work, births, deaths and stories....just waiting to be told but only if someone from the other side can get noticed by one of the current occupants.

With all these tales, I think it is pretty safe to assume that something is haunting this workplace. I hope to maybe have more on this haunted workplace in the days to come.

Thanks
~Tom~

Ghost Hunting With Infrared Technology

Replace Fear Of The Unknown With Curiosity

Ghosts have been of significant interest to the human race for centuries. Cultures all around the world believe in spirits that survive death to live in another realm.  They are actually the most widely believed of all paranormal phenomena.  The search for proof of afterlife based paranormal activity has become more popular in recent years, due in part because of cable TV's hit series like “Ghost Hunters.”

Ghost hunting can often however be a deceptively complex exercise.  Fortunately technological advancements have allowed the development of increasingly effective methods and tools that allow paranormal investigators help explain these paranormal phenomena.

Diagnostic instruments based on infrared technology have been used extensively over the years in the search for ghosts.  As these devices have become more affordable they are now widely used by both professional and amateur ghost hunters alike.  The reason for their popularity is because they can detect one of the key indicators of the presence of paranormal activity. Temperature!

It’s All About The Surface

In considering the purchase of either of these infrared devices, it is important to understand that they are only able to measure the surface temperature of objects and not the ambient air temperature.  Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to see less reputable sources and sellers of these products suggesting that these devices will be able to measure fluctuations in ambient air temperature.  This is simply not the case.

This would perhaps leave many people wondering why anyone would consider adding one of these devices to their ghost hunting kit?  The reason these instruments play such an important role in ghost hunting centers on the important task of eliminating non-paranormal explanations of evidence that might otherwise suggest a ghostly presence.

Ghostly activity is often associated with sudden and dramatic drops in localized temperature which are known as ‘cold spots.’  The presence of a cold spot is not automatically definitive proof of paranormal activity however when there may be environmental or other explanations for decreases in temperature.  An infrared thermometer or thermal imaging camera can however quickly eliminate many of these other possible explanations, such as air ingress from windows or vents.  Being able to disqualify false indicators of paranormal activity is a critical task for any ghost hunter and these instruments are able to do this extremely quickly and effectively.

Recommended Equipment

Infrared Thermometer

As with many items of technology there are a wide variety of models available with a range of different features.  A basic infrared thermometer will enable ghost hunters to measure the surface temperatures of common objects like walls and other non-reflective materials reliably and efficiently.  High quality models for these tasks can be purchased for between $20.00 and $50.00.

There are some more advanced models which come with the ability to measure not only surface temperature, but ambient air temperature as well courtesy of a K-type slot for a thermocouple.  These models would be ideal for those who do not have a separate device to measure air temperature and will enable them to be able to detect both forms of temperature from the same device at the same time.

Thermal Imaging Camera

Thermal cameras are becoming increasingly popular, especially as their price continues to come down while their quality and features improve.  That said, budgetary considerations are likely to play a role in the decision-making process as to which model most consumers will look to buy.

The benefits of a thermal camera cannot however be overstated.  They are able to quickly scan a large surface area or multiple objects very quickly.  The ability to clearly view temperature hot and cold spots via the thermal image displayed on the screen allows users to assess whether there may be natural sources for any temperature fluctuations.  Many models also come with dual thermal and digital cameras, which eliminate the need for carrying additional equipment on the job.

More advanced models come with greater resolution of the thermal detector for clearer imaging and video recording capabilities, but also come with a greater price tag.  Realistically, it is not likely that these features are required for ghost hunting purposes and a more affordable model will perform just as admirably.

Feared By Ghosts, Loved By Hunters

Compared to yesteryear, the ability to prove or disprove the presence of ghosts and other paranormal phenomena is greatly enhanced with the use of infrared technology.  It is an exciting prospect for ghost hunters that these instruments are more widely available and in the future will come with even more advanced features.  They have multiple applications which can be used to save money and which will offset the initial cost of purchase.

In the realm of ghost hunting the ability to quickly and definitively rule out other explanations for indicators of paranormal phenomena is of critical importance.  The time to turn the tables has arrived.  Good luck haunting the ghosts!

The Ghost Of "Alice" In Springfield, Illinois
The Haunted Virgil Hickox House
By Dorraine Fisher

The Virgil Hickox House of Springfield, Illinois has an interesting history. Originally built in 1839, it’s been many things over its long history including a tavern, funeral parlor, men’s club, and speakeasy. Originally built by Virgil Hickox as a private residence, it received numerous additions during his life to accommodate his growing family. But many strange happenings have been reported there over the years.

Some say the building is haunted by several ghosts including a dominant male entity and a little girl called Alice and it’s been subject to many investigations. The house is believed by some to be a portal. Orbs have been spotted there and numerous EVP’s have been recorded. In August of 2011, Capital City Paranormal Investigations investigated the house for The Travel Channel and took this striking photo. Could this be the ghost of Alice?

Creepy is the order of the day in The Conjuring
Available on 10/22
The Conjuring
Rated: R, Running Time: 112 minutes
Directed by James Wan
Release date: 10/22/13, Available on Blu-Ray, DVD, Streaming
 Movie Review
By
Thomas Marcum

If you've ever needed another reason not to buy a old plantation style house, just watch The Conjuring. The house itself is scary looking but the real fright is on the inside where multiple entities are living. This movie has some mega creepy scenes in it and several "that was creepy" events.

The main story starts with a family moving into an old plantation type house. Everything seems find at first and then the "bumps" in the night start.  As the evil forces become more violent the family seeks help from a pair of supernatural investigators.

Another interesting factor about this movie is that it is based on some real life events. Our family as a whole enjoyed the film but for me personally, I liked seeing the history of modern paranormal research and found it exciting. Many may not be aware but the investigators portrayed in the film are real life paranormal researchers, Ed and Lorraine Warren, Sadly Ed passed away in 2006 but Lorraine is still with us and still investigating. These two were real pioneers in the field of paranormal research and established many of the techniques still used today. So the movie has roots in real paranormal history, which people in the field of ghost hunting will appreciate.

The film is very entertaining and will make a great addition to the growing Halloween "must watch" movies. There is one scene in particular that stands out for me and it is the sheet scene, which I have included above. For more trailers of The Conjuring, please Click Here. I also encourage everyone to "like" The Conjuring Facebook page by Clicking Here!

The film has many terrifying elements from haunted or possessed material items to demons and exorcisms, which all make for a very good watch. So if you got room for another good solid scary movie, you should give this one a try.

The Blu-Ray DVD also contains a short but informative special feature entitled "A life in Demonology", where the real Lorraine Warren gives some insight into her many years of paranormal investigating. This special feature is for sure a must watch for anyone who is in the field of ghost hunting.

So in the end I enjoyed the film and can recommend it to anyone looking for a good scare on a dark night.

 Rating: 4 out of 5

Thanks

Sharon Day's New book
Strange but true

By TCC Team Member Dorraine Fisher

More Than Just An Unusual Childhood!!!
Sharon Day’s Book "Growing Up With Ghosts"

Truth really is stranger than fiction. And Sharon Day’s book Growing Up With Ghost surely ranks among the highest for strange but true stories. She chronicles her childhood from her earliest memories of her experiences with ghosts in a house she and her family occupied in Northern Virginia in the 1960’s and 70’s

Most people who’ve had experiences with ghosts in fleeting moments often have trouble processing what they’ve seen because maybe they understand too well what "normal" is supposed to be. But Sharon Day grew up with a different definition of normal, and took it and ran with it. She was a child, not traumatized at all by her experiences, but molded and shaped by the wonder all around her during those years.

In her book, she takes you through the strange journey of her day to day life of this quirky, often bewildering, but only sometimes scary world of spirits and unusual events that unfolded as she grew up in the 250-year-old house with her four siblings.

Growing Up With Ghosts offers a clear picture into what has shaped and molded the author of the popular blog, Ghost Hunting Theories, and what drives her to find answers in her paranormal research to this day. Growing Up With Ghosts is a great tribute to that and well worth the read for ghosts lovers or anyone else looking for entertaining reading. I highly recommend it. It won’t disappoint. *********DF

Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil has met his share of groupies, and now he's hoping to meet some ghosts as well.

Neil Joins the GA crew to investigate  Riviera Hotel. Neil has hopes of contacting the ghost of
Frank Sinatra and members of the Chicago Mafia who allegedly stayed at the Vegas landmark.
Did they make contact or not will not be revealed until the show's season finale on April 27.

Neil said he has been in contact with his dead daughter Skylar since her death in 1995.
So he does know a little about ghost encounters and should be a good guest on Ghost Adventures.
