A few days ago, I was talking to a friend on the phone. We were talking about Bigfoot. He told me an interesting story about some railroad workers seeing a Bigfoot one night at or around a switch point. It occurred at around 1 am and the workers were told to "watch for a guy running around in a monkey suit" around the switch point. It got me to thinking. What is the likelihood that some guy in a monkey suit was running around at 1am on a isolated area of railroad track? The possibility has to be very slim.

As I thought more about our railway systems, I realized that while railroads do run through towns and cities, there are countless miles where the railroads run though nothing but mountains and wilderness.

It would be safe to assume that the possibility of Bigfoot being seen along these types of areas by railroad workers and travelers is very likely. So, I set out to find reports along railroads.

I know that I myself have taken in a couple reports of Bigfoot being seen near train tracks.
One sighting was by my neighbor, who was out for a walk on our local train tracks. He saw a Bigfoot in the creek next to the railroad tracks. It was splashing in the creek. The encounter was a very up close sighting. You can read about his two sightings and view his interview by clicking here.

Then there was a report I took of some guys going to an area to shoot guns. According to the report, one witness stated  "we walked about 1 mile north along the railroad tracks until we got to the trestle." The group saw a large grey colored Bigfoot. That report can be found HERE.

There are also many tales of train wrecks the led to escaped ape men. Some old tales talk about ape men and wild men being captured by locals. Most of these old tales are over 50 years old, with some going back into the late 1700's and 1800's. The main theme being it occurred on or near railroad tracks. The story of Jacko is one suck case.

One of the most famous and debated reports of Bigfoot near railroads is the Silverton railroad picture.

The picture was reportedly taken by a 7 year old in 2008. It shows what appears to be a figure running along the river. It also appears to be carrying something that kind of resembles a skateboard.  It should also be noted that the town does (or did do) a "Hunt for Bigfoot" event. So, could the picture have just been a way to stir up some publicity? Maybe. I have always doubted this photo.

While the Silverton railroad photo maybe be questionable, it should not take way from the fact that there are many reports of Bigfoot being seen near railroad tracks.

Another interesting report comes courtesy of the BFRO website. It tells of 2 friends who were riding dirt bikes along the railroad tracks. They had stopped near a trestle, where they saw a large, 8 foot tall Bigfoot rubbing it's back against a tree. They got back on their bikes and got out of the area.

There are even reports/stories of Bigfoot actually hopping on trains. Now, I don't know about that but I do know there are many reports of Bigfoot being seen about railroad tracks.

In our area, there is many miles of track lines, many of which have not been used much the last few years due to the decline of the coal industry. These trains run or ran from area to area all the while crossing isolated mountainous regions. It would seem like the idea places for Bigfoot to be in. Places with little or no traffic or intruders, other than a train every once in a while.
But on rare occasions paths cross and the hiker, walker, or dirt biker rider cross the landscape via the railroad tracks. Then it happens. They see something that they thought was only a myth. They see a Bigfoot.

If you have seen a Bigfoot near railroad tracks or anywhere else, feel free to drop us an email report via the this link.

Thanks
