So, today the internet is a buzzing about a possible bigfoot picture that was captured on a game camera. The picture reportedly was taken in Georgia after something tore the game camera off the tree. You can only see part of what many think is a face of a young bigfoot. It is my understanding, from looking at the image and the back story, that the game cam is on the ground and this figure is looking down at it.

While the bigfoot community is buzzing about this image and with opinions being split and frankly all over the place, I thought I would attempt to answer the question of just what this is...or isn't.
First, let me say that I have been doing bigfoot research for close to 30 years, and no I'm not an expert, but I do know a few things. The game cam capture while intriguing at first, loses it's mystery if you study it just a little bit. We are looking at the head of something. Right off you can see that the head is not shaped like a bigfoot or a human. What would be the cheek bone and jaw area is all wrong.

I know that some will not like that comment, but bare with me. So, if we are not looking at a human or a bigfoot what are we looking at. There have been many guesses as to what this is, some of which include: Bigfoot, bear, house cat, fox, cougar, hairy person, photoshop fake and more.

At first I thought it could be a bear. I have personally captured game cam video of a bear ripping up one of my game cams and at one point all you can see is an eye. That eye looked very similar to this photo from Georgia.

Then, as some suggested, if you flip the image upside down you can see that it is a house cat. And in fact it does look very similar to a house cat. But most of the time a house cat's pupils are split and run vertical like this one in the picture below.

But big cats, like cougars, have round pupils. So I thought that I would compare the eyes of a cougar to the eye in the game cam picture. Here are some of my results.

First to get an idea of the creature in the game cam picture, I copied and flipped the image to create the other side of the face. While not perfect, it does give us and idea of the full face of the creature. Then I compared it in a side by side of the face of a cougar. Here is that image.

It is pretty similar but I was not satisfied and thought I would overlay the game cam picture with the cougars. Here is that result.

Right side of the picture (left side of creature) is the game cam image. Below is the same image but I have lightened up the game cam image to make it blend a little better.

Now lets do the same thing with the opposite side of the cougars face.
It appears to match up even better. Next I lightened the game cam image to make it blend better.

In my opinion, for what it is worth, this is an image of a cougar looking down into a game camera. The similarities are just too close, for me anyways, to think otherwise. One thing is for sure the Georgia game cam picture is NOT a picture of a bigfoot in any way shape or form.

Many will point to the fact that there are no cougars in Georgia but that is just not true. Cougars have been sighted in Georgia and just like here in Kentucky, Fish and Wildlife dept. continue to say we don't have cougars. Here is one such sighting of a cougar in Georgia - click here. Here is another report of large cats tracks being found - click here.

So, that is my attempt to unravel this photograph, and it is okay if you don't agree with my answer.

Another question is where are the other pictures of this creature ripping down the game camera? Why were they not released? I think I know why, it because it shows what the creature really is and ends the mystery.

Thanks

  1. I'm guessing it is a dog sniffing the camera. The cougar theory is good, except half the head doesn't show in the original image turned upside down.
